Fourth of July Celebration Georgia's oldest continuous Fourth of July celebration; the Lions Club has sponsored this fun, family-oriented event for more than 40 years. |
Georgia Marble Unquestionably the event of the year in Pickens County. Held annually the first weekend in October, the top event of the festival is the Georgia Marble Festival Arts Exhibit. This art show and competition was originally limited to marble sculptures; in recent years, organizers have expanded to include two-dimensional fine arts, three dimensional arts and crafts and photography. At the festival ground, thousands of visitors enjoy more than 150 booths featuring food and unique arts and crafts and first class entertainment. There are several secondary events held in conjunction with the festival. A few of these include: a road race, a gold tournament at Bent Tree, and a production by the Tater Patch Players. For more information, call the Chamber of Commerce at 706-692-5600.
